Global Switch Advances Sustainability Initiatives Across European and Asia-Pacific Data Centres
London, 20 May 2025 – Global Switch, one of the original data centre partners, has today announced that all its European data centres – located in Amsterdam, Frankfurt, London, Madrid and Paris – have been approved to be participants in the European Code of Conduct for Energy Efficiency in Data Centres (EU CoC).
This voluntary initiative, established by the European Commission’s Joint Research Centre, seeks to improve energy efficiency in data centres by encouraging best practices and, in doing so, reduces environmental impact.
Global Switch has taken a significant step by not only aligning its European data centres to the Code of Conduct, but proactively applying the standards to its Asia-Pacific operations. This commitment positions the company a step ahead of regional regulatory requirements and ensures consistent energy efficiency practices across its global data centre portfolio.
Adam Eaton, Group Director for Europe at Global Switch, commented:
«While achieving EU Code of Conduct approval for our European data centres is an important milestone, there is still a significant journey ahead – both for us and the industry as a whole – to ensure we operate more sustainably. We continue to work closely with our partners to deliver best-in-class data centre solutions in service of our customers and our communities.”
