Maurice Thijssen

Maurice joined Global Switch as Account Manager in 2005, moving to his current role of Group Director, Sales in 2024.

Career

Having joined Global Switch Amsterdam in 2005, Maurice was promoted to Sales Manager, Amsterdam in 2010, and became Regional Sales Director, Europe in 2014. During his time at Global Switch, Maurice has been an integral part in the growth of its European data centres and developed an expert knowledge of the data centre market and a wealth of experience in understanding the evolving needs of customers. He has negotiated numerous multi-megawatt deals for hyperscalers and global enterprises across Global Switch’s European portfolio.

Prior to joining Global Switch, Maurice held several sales positions with Stork Technical Services, a knowledge-based asset integrity management company providing services to corporations in the chemical, oil and gas, power and other major industries.

Responsibilities at Global Switch

Maurice’s main focus is to coordinate and lead a team of highly experienced and technical sales individuals who concentrate on selling capacity for large scale deployments across Global Switch’s current portfolio and future data centres as the business continues to scale. The team’s emphasis is on AI and high-performance compute deployments as well as the growing needs of hyperscale, large enterprise and cloud and managed services providers who are looking to house their mission-critical infrastructure in Global Switch data centres that are centrally located, offer high power density with liquid cooling optionality with flexible design approaches, and provide a highly resilient centralised infrastructure and rich connectivity offering. Maurice manages all Global Switch’s global agency relationships and ensures that appropriate referral agreements are in place.
